Journey to Guyana, Zhao Xu
Date: February 26, 2024
Location: Guyana
Service personnel: Zhao Xu, Dong Kang
Process:
With the increasing number of overseas construction projects in China, the output of equipment has gradually increased, and foreign services have become part of the company's services. In early February, the customer requested to assemble pile drivers in Guyana.
As the cold winter receded, at the beginning of the spring, with great enthusiasm, we embarked on a journey to Guyana. After many twists and turns, we arrived at the location arranged by the client (Shanghai Airport → Netherlands → Panama → Georgetown Airport → client's residence → construction site).
Due to a lack of experience and time difference, different regional environments, construction site environments, and overly optimistic estimates abroad, many bad things have occurred, such as:
1. Difficulty unloading at destination port, uncertain itinerary plan
2. Language and safety hazards, inconvenient travel
3. The construction site environment is harsh, making it difficult to sleep during the day and night
4. Unable to adapt to the local conditions and poor health environment, with persistent fever for several days
5. Security personnel carry out work under gun protection
Etc.
After a week of suffering and overcoming various difficulties, the pile driver finally arrived at the construction site successfully. For the company's expatriates and customers, this is long-awaited good news. The next step is to arrange assembly and commissioning work to put the equipment into use as soon as possible.
The weather in Guyana in February is similar to July in China, with scorching sun and clear sky for thousands of miles without any wind or rain.
The client's construction site has a tight schedule and urgently needs equipment to be put into operation. In line with the company's business culture and philosophy, to meet the urgent needs of the client, we have been working hard to address their own discomfort and put them into installation. On the first night of the equipment's arrival, we began to lift and unload the large and small arms, oil cylinder heads, and accessories. The next day, during day, we started installing the large arm oil cylinder, large arm, small arm oil cylinder, and oil pipe. On the third day, we installed the main counterweight and oil pipe of the hammerhead.
Despite the scorching heat of 36 ℃, dragging his sick body, he worked overtime day and night and completed the assembly and debugging work ahead of schedule under limited conditions and with the cooperation of the customer.
The next step is to put the equipment into use, identify and rectify any deficiencies in the equipment, and provide daily usage guidelines and precautions for drivers. After 3 days of high-intensity work, no hidden dangers or faults were found in the equipment. (On the 3rd to 7th day, the pile driver was observed to drive 18-21-meter green core wooden piles and pull out piles. On the last day, the hammer gear oil was replaced for the user.) It was highly recognized by the customer.
The ten-day trip to Guyana, whether long or short, is unforgettable and perfect for everyone. (Return: Construction site → Georgetown Airport → Panama → Netherlands → Shanghai Pudong Airport)
Looking back on the past, there was both bitterness and sweetness. The bitterness was gaining an additional experience, while the sweetness was spreading Tianheng's service philosophy of "service first, customer supreme" even further.
